Attending your first wellness retreat can feel both exciting and daunting. Will you fit in? What should you bring? What actually happens at these things? Let's demystify the retreat experience so you can arrive feeling prepared and open to transformation.
Before You Go
Mental Preparation
- Set intentions - What do you hope to gain from this experience?
- Release expectations - The most profound shifts often come unexpectedly
- Embrace beginner's mind - You don't need to know anything to benefit
- Trust the process - Facilitators are experienced in holding space for transformation
Physical Preparation
- Begin reducing caffeine and alcohol a week before
- Establish a regular sleep schedule
- Eat clean, whole foods
- Stay hydrated
- Consider a gentle cleanse
What to Pack
Essentials:
- Comfortable, layered clothing
- Yoga mat and props if you have favorites
- Journal and pen
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Any personal medications
- Your chakra oils!
Leave Behind:
- Work materials
- Excessive technology
- Alcohol or recreational substances
- Negativity and judgment
During the Retreat
Daily Structure (Typical)
6:00 AM - Morning meditation or yoga 7:30 AM - Healthy breakfast 9:00 AM - Workshop or teaching session 12:30 PM - Lunch and rest time 3:00 PM - Afternoon activities (nature walks, energy work, etc.) 6:00 PM - Dinner 7:30 PM - Evening ceremony or sharing circle 9:30 PM - Rest and integration
